Lethal Company, a cooperative horror game that revolves around scavenging scrap from monster-filled moons, has taken the Steam gaming platform by storm, achieving a new player record just one month after its launch.

Developed by Zeekerss, Lethal Company surpassed 100,000 concurrent players on November 19th, shortly before its one-month anniversary. Since then, the game has experienced exponential growth, with its player count currently exceeding 115,000 simultaneous players in the last 24 hours, as reported by SteamDB.

This impressive peak within a 24-hour period places Lethal Company ahead of renowned multiplayer Steam games like Survival Ascended, Dead by Daylight, Rust, DayZ, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Redemption 2, and brings it within striking distance of the current player count of Grand Theft Auto V.

The success of Lethal Company can be attributed to its cooperative survival-based gameplay, where players assume the roles of workers employed by a mysterious Company. Their objective is to collect scrap from abandoned moons infested with creatures. Navigating through these moons can be challenging due to fog and darkness, prompting some players to stay in the safety of the ship and guide their fellow crewmates, akin to the mechanics in Phasmophobia. Meeting the Company's quota becomes crucial to avoid severe consequences.

Although Lethal Company remains in the Early Access phase, Zeekerss plans to continue its development for approximately six more months. The developers have disclosed that additions to the game will include additional creatures, tools, cosmetics available for purchase using in-game scrap, and new maps, supplementing the existing seven moons.

The overwhelmingly positive reviews and the cooperative gameplay of Lethal Company on Steam have undoubtedly contributed to its rising popularity among gamers. It remains to be seen how the game will evolve during its development process, but its current trajectory suggests that Lethal Company is well on its way to becoming a prominent multiplayer title within the gaming community.
