AT&T has announced that it will be increasing the monthly rates for its unlimited plans by 99 cents per line, per month starting in March. The carrier confirmed the price hike, which will be accompanied by additional benefits for customers, including increased hotspot data. Notifications regarding the increase will be sent out to customers this weekend, with the changes taking effect on March 5.

The revised pricing has already been updated on AT&T's website for new users, showcasing the new names for the company's main wireless plans as well as the augmented high-speed hotspot data that will now be included. The base unlimited plan, previously known as Unlimited Starter, has been renamed "Unlimited Starter SL" and will now offer 5GB of hotspot data instead of the previous 3GB. The middle plan, Unlimited Extra, is now called "Unlimited Extra EL" and comes with 30GB of hotspot data, an increase from 15GB. The highest-tier plan, previously referred to as Unlimited Premium, has been changed to "Unlimited Premium PL" and will now provide 60GB of hotspot data, up from the previous 50GB. Additionally, users on the Unlimited Premium PL plan will now have the ability to roam in the Dominican Republic with full talk, text, and data.

It's important to note that customers on AT&T's old Unlimited Elite plan, which includes access to Max, will not be subject to any pricing changes as rates for those lines were adjusted last summer. Despite the adjustments in pricing, hotspot data, and branding, AT&T has not reintroduced Max to any of its plans. Unlike its competitors T-Mobile and Verizon, AT&T does not bundle or discount streaming services with its main wireless service.

In addition to the changes in the main plans, AT&T is also raising the price of its cheapest Value Plus option by 99 cents and renaming it AT&T Value Plus VL. Although this plan still does not include hotspot data, customers will now have the option to have up to 10 lines, compared to the previous limitation of just one line. However, it's worth noting that all lines on the Value Plus VL plan must exclusively be on this plan and cannot be a combination of lower-priced and higher-priced options with additional features.

AT&T spokesperson stated, "We are bringing new benefits and added value to our best unlimited plans. This includes increased hotspot data and roaming in the Dominican Republic. We are also expanding the number of lines on our Value Plus plan. Customers on our current Unlimited Starter, Extra, Premium, and Value Plus plans will receive the additional benefits starting in March." The spokesperson also mentioned that existing customers will be notified of these changes in the coming days and will have several weeks before the price increase takes effect to make any necessary adjustments to their plans or explore other options.

AT&T highlighted that this is the first price increase for these unlimited plans since their introduction in 2020.
