Apple is gearing up for the launch of its highly anticipated spatial computing device, the Vision Pro, with a robust catalog of apps and games. The tech giant announced today that more than 600 new apps and games have been specifically designed for the Vision Pro, joining the existing 1 million compatible apps across iOS and iPadOS.

Previously, concerns were raised about potential developer disinterest due to Apple's compliance plan with the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which was criticized by companies such as Spotify, Epic Games, and Microsoft. However, Apple's latest announcement aims to alleviate those concerns by showcasing a diverse range of apps and games for the Vision Pro.

Among the notable additions to the app catalog are several streaming apps, including Disney+, ESPN, MLB, PGA Tour, Max, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fubo, Crunchyroll, Red Bull TV, IMAX, TikTok, and MUBI. These apps promise to deliver immersive experiences on the Vision Pro, with features such as 3D maps of races and real-time shot tracking on virtual golf courses.

Major cable companies like Charter Spectrum, Comcast Xfinity, Cox Contour, Sling TV, and Verizon Fios are also onboard to provide their apps for the Vision Pro. Additionally, popular sports broadcasters such as CBS, NBC, NBC Sports, Fox Sports, and the UFC, along with ESPN, Paramount+, Peacock, and others, will offer their content on the platform.

The Vision Pro is not just limited to entertainment, as Apple has also emphasized its productivity capabilities. Apps like MindNote for brainstorming, OmniFocus and OmniPlan for data and project management, Microsoft 365 apps, Fantastical calendar app, Box, Numerics, JigSpace, Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Notion, Todoit, and Navi translation app will be available for users.

To address concerns about the lack of games compared to more affordable headsets, Apple revealed that the Vision Pro will feature titles like BA 2K24 Arcade Edition, Sonic Dream Team, TMNT Splintered Fate, and more. Additionally, users will have access to over 250 games on Apple Arcade, with no in-app purchases or ads.

Other apps set to debut on the Vision Pro's App Store include Loóna's relaxing 3D dioramas, spatial puzzles in Blackbox, and the skateboarding app Skatrick Pro. Furthermore, users will be able to access Mac App Store games and apps like Steam via Mac Virtual Display.

The launch of the Vision Pro is set for Friday, and although app intelligence firm Appfigures currently only counts around 350+ available apps, many developers are expected to submit their apps to the App Store in the coming days.

Apple's commitment to building a substantial app catalog for the Vision Pro aims to dispel concerns about the device's limited reach and any perceived lack of developer goodwill. With a wide array of streaming, productivity, gaming, and entertainment apps, the Vision Pro is poised to offer a compelling and immersive experience for users when it hits the market.
