In his final career column with NBC Sports, Peter King shared his speculation on a potential bold move by the Chicago Bears in the upcoming NFL draft. King hinted that the Bears might consider trading their top pick to build a stronger supporting cast around quarterback Justin Fields. While King's prediction contrasts with the prevailing belief that the Bears will select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick, he outlined a scenario where trading down could yield significant returns for the team.

King proposed a hypothetical trade scenario where the Bears could trade the top pick to Washington and potentially acquire the second pick, a second-round pick, and a 2025 first-round pick in return. By subsequently trading the second pick to Atlanta, the Bears could amass additional draft picks, creating an instant infrastructure for the team.

The prediction comes at a crucial time for the Bears, as they are expected to finalize their quarterback plan at the NFL combine this week and prepare for free agency signings starting on March 13. General Manager Ryan Poles may have a critical decision to make regarding trading the top pick and potentially reshaping the team's future with an influx of draft capital.
