In a recent update on the Philadelphia Phillies' injury status, manager Rob Thomson confirmed that star outfielder Bryce Harper is in good health following a tumble into a camera well during Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Despite Harper being scheduled for a day off on Sunday, Thomson expects him to be back in action on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. It remains unclear, however, if Harper will be available to pinch hit off the bench.
Relief pitcher Kerkering threw 14 pitches during a rehab outing with Lehigh Valley on Saturday, March 30. His next appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, but if adverse weather conditions lead to a game cancellation, Kerkering will head to Clearwater to further his recovery from a recent bout of the flu.
During the Phillies' game on March 30, outfielder Ortiz sustained an ankle injury while attempting to field a ground ball in the fifth inning. Thomson commented that Ortiz was visibly limping and he has since been replaced on the 26-man roster by Nick Nelson.
Pitcher Walker, who experienced discomfort in his shoulder while playing catch on March 23, has made progress in his recovery. On March 30, he completed a 30-pitch bullpen session and is expected to require a few weeks to fully regain his strength and return as a starting pitcher.
As for Covey, the pitcher is currently with the team in Philadelphia but has yet to resume throwing off the mound. His initial aim was to compete for one of the final bullpen spots during spring training.
With these updates, the Phillies are actively working to ensure the full recovery and return of their injured players. Fans eagerly await their comeback to the field, providing a boost to the team's overall performance.
