In a stunning turn of events, the New York Giants are ramping up their interest in Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy. According to reports from Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, McCarthy made a visit to the Giants' facilities in East Rutherford, N.J. last Thursday, where he had dinner with the team's front office and took a tour of the facility.

Once viewed as a likely second-round pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, McCarthy's rising stock has sparked speculation that the Giants, who currently hold the sixth overall pick, may need to trade up to at least the fourth spot (currently held by the Arizona Cardinals) in order to select him.

Interestingly, the Minnesota Vikings are now in the mix as well. After a deal with the Houston Texans, the Vikings now hold the 11th and 23rd picks in the first round. With their pressing need for a long-term solution at quarterback following Kirk Cousins' departure to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, the Vikings have been rumoured to be considering using their two picks to position themselves ahead of the Giants and secure McCarthy for themselves.

Adding to the intrigue, the Giants recently hosted North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye on a Top 30 visit, indicating that they are seriously considering taking a quarterback in the first round of the draft. While it remains uncertain whether the Giants will ultimately choose a quarterback in Round 1, it is evident that they are leaving no stone unturned in their search for talent.

As the draft approaches, the speculation surrounding McCarthy's potential landing spot continues to grow. With the Giants and Vikings both showing strong interest, it remains to be seen who will make a move to secure the talented quarterback. For now, all eyes are on J.J. McCarthy as he navigates the pre-draft process, eagerly awaiting his fate on April XX, when the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off.
