Title: Mike Conley Jr. Agrees to $21 Million Contract Extension with Timberwolves
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. has secured a two-year, $21 million contract extension, according to his agents Steven Heumann and Jess Holtz of CAA Basketball who shared the news with ESPN on Monday. The lucrative deal will keep Conley, a key figure for the team holding the top seed in the Western Conference, off the summer free agency market and bound to the Timberwolves through the 2025-2026 season.
Since his arrival in a trade with Utah in February 2023, Conley has played a pivotal role in the Timberwolves' ascent to the top ranks of the Western Conference. Paired once again with Rudy Gobert, Conley has significantly contributed to the cohesion of star players Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Gobert. The team's success is evident as they stand at a 37-13 win-loss record when Conley is on the court and 2-3 when he is absent.
Conley's performance on the court this season has been outstanding, with a remarkable 44% shooting rate on 3-pointers, which marks the highest of his career. Additionally, he boasts an impressive 59% effective field goal percentage, also a career best. Standing second in the league for assists-to-turnover ratio, trailing only Washington's Tyus Jones, Conley has been a pivotal asset to the Timberwolves' success.
