Louisville, KY - In an exciting development for the Louisville Cardinals basketball team, Terrence Edwards Jr., the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, has committed to play for the university. The news comes after his recent campus visit with Louisville's new coach Pat Kelsey, as reported by Jeff Goodman of Field of 68.

Edwards, a talented 6-foot-6-inch swingman hailing from Atlanta, was a key player for James Madison in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, where he led his team to an impressive 32-4 record. Known for his scoring ability, Edwards averaged 17.2 points per game and led the Dukes in assists with 123. Additionally, he contributed with 4.4 rebounds per game, ranking third on the team roster.

With a shooting percentage of 42% from the field and 32.3% from beyond the arc, Edwards showcased his versatility and ability to contribute both inside and outside the paint. The young athlete's exceptional performance earned him the prestigious honor of being named the Sun Belt's Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore.

Edwards' commitment to Louisville comes after visiting Florida State as well. His decision adds up to the recent influx of new players joining the Cardinals' roster under Coach Kelsey. Last week, guard Reyne Smith, standing at 6-foot-2-inches, and 6-foot-11-inch center James Scott from Charleston University also committed to Louisville.

Coach Kelsey, who took charge of the team on the heels of an 8-24 season with every scholarship player entering the transfer portal, has been actively rebuilding the squad. With the addition of Edwards and the other new recruits, Louisville's roster is gradually taking shape.

With Edwards' skillset and the promising additions of Smith and Scott, there is newfound excitement among Louisville fans. The team's future appears bright as they plan for a strong 2024 season in hopes of rebounding from their previous campaign.
