5M Pay Rise

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to negotiate a new contract with head coach Andy Reid, following their recent Super Bowl victory. At 65 years old, Reid currently earns $11.5 million annually and could potentially secure a significant pay increase of $6.5 million, making him the highest-paid coach in the NFL.

After leading the Chiefs to two consecutive Super Bowl wins, along with a total of three victories in the past five seasons, Reid confirmed his return for the upcoming season despite retirement speculations. The impending talks for a new contract between Reid and the Chiefs are expected to take place in the coming weeks, as confirmed by NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

If the deal goes through, Reid would surpass Sean Payton of the Denver Broncos as the highest-paid coach in the league, with Payton currently earning $18 million annually. Additionally, Chiefs General Manager Brett Beach is also rumored to be in line for a new contract as recognition for his efforts in assembling Reid's successful roster.

The negotiations for Reid and Beach's new contracts are likely to be finalized before next month's Annual League Meeting. Despite recent controversy surrounding a reported incident where star player Travis Kelce had a sideline outburst towards Reid, both parties have seemingly moved past the issue, with Kelce facing no punishment for his actions.

Overall, the Chiefs appear to be making substantial moves both on and off the field, solidifying their commitment to retaining top talent and securing ongoing success in the league.
