In a surprising turn of events, the New York Giants are said to be questioning their faith in quarterback Daniel Jones, according to reports from NFL analyst Rich Eisen. Citing rumors he heard at the Combine, Eisen stated that the Giants are "absolutely done" with Jones and have expressed feelings of "buyer's remorse."

Although Giants general manager Joe Schoen recently voiced his support for Jones as the team's starting quarterback, Eisen's claims have sparked speculation among fans and analysts. It is worth noting that Schoen and his staff have little incentive to publicly admit their doubts about Jones or their potential interest in securing a top quarterback prospect in the upcoming draft.

Jones' performance during the 2023 season did little to alleviate concerns within the Giants organization. In just six starts, he managed a mere two touchdowns and threw six interceptions, resulting in only one win for the team during a disappointing 6-11 campaign. Jones' consistent struggle with injuries has also raised doubts about his ability to stay on the field, with last season being cut short by a torn ACL and previous absences due to a neck injury.

The Giants find themselves faced with a dilemma regarding Jones, who recently signed a four-year, $160 million extension. This extension guarantees the quarterback a substantial amount of money, with a staggering dead cap hit of $69.3 million for the upcoming season alone. Consequently, it appears highly likely that Jones will remain on the Giants roster for at least another year. However, the team could consider parting ways with him more affordably after the 2024 season, where the dead cap hit would decrease to $22.2 million.

Complicating matters further is the Giants' position in the draft, holding the No. 6 pick in what is projected to be a quarterback-heavy class. Schoen and his team now face the decision of whether to make a bold move and potentially secure top quarterback prospects such as Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, or to remain at their current slot and potentially select playmakers like LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.

The uncertainty surrounding Jones' future in New York has garnered significant attention from both fans and experts. As the Giants weigh their options, the team must carefully consider the potential impact of their decision on their long-term success and aspirations of becoming perennial contenders in the NFC.
