The Dallas Cowboys have wasted no time in making their intentions known at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. As the on-field drills for defensive linemen and linebackers took place, the team engaged in formal meetings with four talented cornerbacks, providing more clarity on their draft priorities.

Nate Wiggins from Clemson, who is highly regarded by draft experts, revealed that he had a positive discussion with the Cowboys' staff. They delved into defensive schemes from his college days and even discussed his nutrition regimen. Wiggins, projected to go in the first round, seemed pleased with the meeting.

Another promising cornerback option for the Cowboys, Caelen Carson from Wake Forest, spoke highly of his meeting with defensive backs coach Al Harris. Carson, standing at 6-foot-0 and 195 pounds, felt that the conversation focused on technique and made him feel like one of the team's players.

Georgia's Kamari Lassiter, who has drawn comparisons to Jourdan Lewis, is scheduled to have a formal meeting with the Cowboys on Thursday night. Lassiter's versatility to play both in the nickel and on the outside has caught the attention of several teams, including the Cowboys.

T.J. Tampa, a standout defensive back for Iowa State, had a great conversation with the Cowboys despite arriving late due to other combine responsibilities. His strong performance in the Big 12 has elevated his draft stock, placing him comfortably in the day two range.

These meetings with potential day one and day two cornerbacks provide insight into the Cowboys' draft strategy regarding the position. With Stephon Gilmore and Jourdan Lewis set to hit free agency, it appears that the team is prioritizing the cornerback group in the upcoming draft.

In addition to the cornerbacks, the Cowboys have also conducted eight other formal interviews on the defensive side of the ball. These include meetings with linebackers Junior Colson (Michigan) and Ty'Ron Hopper (Missouri), as well as defensive tackles McKinnley Jackson (Texas A&M), Maason Smith (LSU), Kris Jenkins (Michigan), Ruke Orhorhoro (Clemson), and T'Vondre Sweat (Texas).

As the NFL Combine progresses, the Cowboys are making it clear that they are actively exploring their options to bolster their defense. With a keen focus on cornerbacks, it will be intriguing to see how these meetings influence the team's draft decisions for the upcoming season.
