Arizona Cardinals General Manager, Steve Ossenfort, recently outlined the team's strategy for the upcoming NFL Draft. Ossenfort emphasized the importance of the draft as the foundation for the team's future, stating that it provides an opportunity to select players that fit both culturally and on the field.
The Cardinals hold the No. 4 pick in the draft after finishing with a 4-13 record last season, giving them the chance to make significant moves in player acquisitions. Despite not targeting specific positions of need, Ossenfort expressed interest in evaluating talented players who can contribute to the team's progress.
Ossenfort adopted a comprehensive approach to player evaluation, focusing primarily on game tape when making decisions. Arizona's staff has completed about 2/3 of their evaluations, with the NFL Combine coming up to fill in gaps in medical assessments and interviews.
With six picks in the first 90 selections, the Cardinals have a promising position for trades and finding value in the draft. Ossenfort remains open to various possibilities for their first-round pick, including potential trades and selecting from a pool of talented players.
As the draft approaches on April 25th, the Cardinals are poised to make strategic decisions that will shape the team moving forward.
