In a much-anticipated move, Ubisoft's XDefiant has finally been fully launched, but players are facing disappointment as many are unable to play the game. Despite a large number of eager gamers attempting to join, the majority are encountering an "Unable to Find Match" error message upon reaching the playlist screen.

Acknowledging the ongoing problems, Ubisoft issued a statement at 1:30 PM addressing the technical difficulties. While online game launches with server issues have become somewhat commonplace in 2024, it is frustrating for players who had hoped that extensive alpha and beta testing would have prevented such setbacks.

As of now, the game's official Twitch channel boasts an impressive 187,000 viewers. However, the audience's experience is limited to watching both prominent and lesser-known streamers navigating through menus or encountering error messages. At best, players can engage in loadout customization without any unlocked features or explore the battle pass. Undoubtedly, this is not the ideal start for a highly anticipated game.

XDefiant's journey to this point has been arduous, involving various twists and turns. One of its notable changes was the decision to drop the "Tom Clancy's" label from the name. Initially announced in July 2021, the game aimed to incorporate elements from renowned Tom Clancy titles like Ghost Recon and The Division. However, it gradually shifted its focus to directly compete with Call of Duty, drawing inspiration from the franchise's earlier years.

Originally scheduled for an October release, the game experienced multiple delays spanning over six months, allowing for additional testing. With a comprehensive year-long roadmap, XDefiant promises players four seasons filled with new weapons, maps, and characters.

Undoubtedly, there is substantial interest surrounding XDefiant. However, any discussion of its potential to challenge Call of Duty must wait until the game overcomes its initial hurdles. Entering the market with a new live shooter is akin to entering a feeding frenzy, and XDefiant needs to establish itself before any meaningful comparisons can be made.

Players hope that the server issues will be resolved promptly, enabling them to finally experience the game they have eagerly awaited. Updates regarding the status of XDefiant will be provided as they become available.
