Authorities in central Florida believe they may have located the body of a woman who was the victim of a carjacking at gunpoint. The incident, which was captured on cellphone footage, occurred when Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, 31, was stopped at a red light in Seminole County on Thursday.

According to Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma, a gunman wearing a black hoodie and a "ski-type of mask" forced his way into De Aguasvivas' white Dodge Durango, after seemingly exiting a green Acura that was following her vehicle. The footage shows the gunman brandishing what appeared to be an automatic handgun.

As the light turned green, De Aguasvivas attempted to evade the assailant by making a U-turn, with the Acura following suit. Sheriff Lemma speculates that the suspect ordered her to turn around and re-approach the intersection. The car then drove towards a new construction area, seemingly targeted by the suspects.

Approximately an hour and 45 minutes later, deputies were called to the area for a vehicle fire. The extent of the damage prevented positive identification of the car, but authorities located a body inside believed to be that of De Aguasvivas. DNA and dental records will be used to confirm the victim's identity. Additionally, twelve shell casings from a gun were found at the scene of the burnt vehicle.

Despite the motive for the carjacking remaining unclear, Sheriff Lemma emphasized that this was not a random incident, suggesting that the suspects knew their target. Before the incident, De Aguasvivas had called her husband to report that she was being followed. However, neither of them contacted emergency services.

De Aguasvivas, a resident of Homestead in Miami-Dade County, was in central Florida to visit family, although the names of the family members were not provided to law enforcement. She and her husband are associated with a barber shop and beauty salon, and both have no criminal history in the United States.

As investigations continue, authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of the green Acura. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Seminole County Sheriff's Office to aid in their investigation.
