A key witness in Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal trial testified on Thursday, revealing the tumultuous reality of participating in "hotel nights," where she was allegedly coerced into engaging with male escorts under Combs’ direction. Using the pseudonym "Jane," the witness described the uncontrollable aftermath of agreeing to these acts, driven by her desire to make Combs happy.
Jane is set to continue her testimony this week and next in Manhattan, bolstering the charges against Combs for sex trafficking and racketeering. Her account follows testimonies from figures like R&B singer Cassie Ventura, who alleged a decade-long period of similar coercion ending in 2018, and a former employee known as "Mia," who reported multiple sexual assaults by Combs between 2009 and 2017.
According to the indictment, Jane is identified as the final victim before Combs' arrest in 2024. The prosecution claims Combs manipulated her into crossing state lines for sexual encounters with compensated male escorts, culminating in his arrest at Manhattan's luxury Park Hyatt Hotel. Investigators retrieved a variety of items from his room, including drugs and sexual lubricants, all characterized by prosecutors as integral to the elaborate "freak offs."
During her testimony, Jane recounted accepting the initial encounter in 2021, driven by love and a wish to please Combs. However, she did not foresee the repeated nature of these sessions. "I didn't think we would be doing that again," she shared, explaining how it became apparent that participation was a prerequisite for Combs’ affection. Requests to halt the encounters were met with dismissive responses, escalating tensions until she felt forced to comply.
The prosecution also depicted instances of violence, portraying Combs as someone who chased Jane through her Los Angeles home, breaking down doors during her attempts to flee. To substantiate racketeering charges, they allege he committed several underlying crimes, including sex trafficking, bribery, and obstruction of justice. Jane reportedly witnessed attempts by Combs and his family to influence her testimony, and even received continued housing payments from him post-arrest, an action prosecutors argue could constitute bribery.
Combs, 55, faces a potential life sentence and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His defense maintains that all sexual interactions were consensual and denies any criminal enterprise within his business activities. The trial is expected to extend into early July, with the defense likely commencing their case by mid-June.
