**Wisconsin Parts Ways with Offensive Coordinator Phil Longo Amid Disappointing Season**
In a move to rejuvenate their struggling offense, Wisconsin has announced the dismissal of Phil Longo from his role as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The decision was confirmed on Sunday by head coach Luke Fickell.
"Today, I informed Phil Longo that his position as our offensive coordinator has been terminated," Fickell stated in an official press release. "After thorough evaluation, I have concluded that our program is not progressing as required and this adjustment is crucial for the team's future success. I extend my gratitude to Phil for his commitment over the last two seasons and wish him all the best."
Phil Longo's tenure at Wisconsin lasted two seasons, covering a span of 23 games. Under his guidance, Wisconsin's offense averaged 23.7 points per game with 372.2 yards. Despite these efforts, the team ranked 93rd nationally in scoring last fall, and their current standing has worsened, placing them 98th, with an average of 23.9 points per game.
The team's recent performance has been particularly concerning, with Wisconsin on a three-game losing streak, failing to score more than 13 points in each of those games. The dismissal reflects a broader effort to address these offensive shortcomings as the season progresses.
