In a shocking turn of events, a water gun fight organized to celebrate "senior skip day" in Maryland took a dark turn when five teenagers were shot, leaving two in critical condition. The incident took place in Bowie, Maryland, where hundreds of students from Prince George's County had gathered for the annual tradition, as reported by the Greenbelt Police Department.

According to Ricardo Dennis, the public information officer of the police department, both Bowie and county police initially dispersed the crowd, but around 500 students reconvened at the Schrom Hills Recreation Center in Greenbelt. As the police monitored the water gun fight, they heard what appeared to be live shots from "someone who brought a real gun." However, it is yet to be determined if the gun was fired by a participant in the water gun fight itself.

As law enforcement responded swiftly, most of the teenagers left the park, creating further chaos. One of the critically injured victims had to be airlifted to the hospital, indicating the severity of their injuries. Three other victims sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The majority of the victims were under 18, with the remaining being over 18 years old.

The incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the safety and security of such gatherings. The police are currently conducting investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

This unfortunate turn of events serves as a grim reminder of the potential dangers associated with improper use of firearms, even in seemingly innocent and light-hearted activities. The Greenbelt Police Department and authorities will be working tirelessly to ensure swift justice and to prevent future incidents like this.

As the investigation progresses, it is our hope that all those affected by this incident, both the victims and their families, find solace and support during this difficult time.
