The Washington Commanders have made a significant addition to their team's front office by naming Brandon Sosna as the senior vice president of football operations. Sosna brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously worked for the Detroit Lions and the University of Southern California.

Sosna's tenure with the Detroit Lions saw him hold the role of senior director of football administration. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in the team's strategic planning and salary cap management, as well as being the club's chief contract negotiator. His expertise in these areas earned him a reputation as a valuable asset for the Lions.

As the senior vice president of football operations for the Washington Commanders, Sosna will report directly to General Manager Adam Peters. His responsibilities will include leading contract negotiations, overseeing various football operations departments such as analytics, health and performance, and football administration. He will also serve as a liaison between the football and business operations, playing a significant role in roster construction, salary cap management, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) strategy.

Peters expressed his excitement about Sosna joining the Commanders, citing his instrumental role in the Lions' roster construction and his well-rounded skillset developed through his extensive career in both the NFL and collegiate athletics. Peters also acknowledged the professionalism of the Detroit Lions organization, particularly President Rod Wood, in facilitating Sosna's transition to Washington.

Prior to his time with the Lions, Sosna served as the executive senior associate athletic director/chief of staff at the University of Southern California. During his tenure, he managed the daily operations of the athletics program, oversaw external communications and revenue generation, and led contract negotiations. Sosna was credited as the architect of the hiring process that brought Head Coach Lincoln Riley to USC in the 2022 offseason. He also played a significant role in USC's move to the Big Ten Conference.

Sosna's career in college athletics also involved two stints at the University of Cincinnati. In various capacities, including as the athletic department's chief of staff, he played a key role in the hiring of Head Coach Luke Fickell and spearheaded record-setting attendance and ticket sales.

Beginning his career with the Cleveland Browns as a football administration intern, Sosna was later promoted to the role of salary cap and contract analyst. His dedication and expertise caught the attention of industry publications, earning him accolades such as being named to Forbes' "30 Under 30" list in 2020 and Sports Business Journal's "New Voices Under 30" list in 2019. In 2017, Sosna received the Front Office Sports Rising 25 Award.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sosna earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.

The Washington Commanders are eager to welcome Brandon Sosna to their organization, confident in his abilities to contribute to their ongoing success. With his extensive experience and proven track record, Sosna's appointment signals the team's commitment to building a strong and competitive franchise.
