In a disturbing incident near the West Bank settlement of Kochav Hashahar, Israeli settlers attacked a truck driver whom they suspected of delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The driver was left moderately wounded, while three IDF soldiers who came to assist him were lightly injured. No arrests have been made thus far.

According to reports, the truck was forced to stop near the settlement when it was set ablaze by the settlers. The driver sustained moderate injuries in the attack. In a surprising turn of events, three IDF soldiers who arrived at the scene to provide aid were also targeted and lightly wounded by the settlers.

The settlement, in a partial denial of responsibility, alleged that the driver had been driving recklessly, hitting multiple vehicles before the attack. They claimed that the incident occurred after protesters attempted to stop a truck that they believed was delivering aid to Hamas. The settlement further condemned violence and emphasized the importance of protecting soldiers who were doing their job.

The head of the Binyamin Regional Council, Yisrael Gantz, firmly stated that citizens should not take the law into their own hands and engage in violent behavior. He reaffirmed the close partnership between the settlement and the security forces. Meanwhile, the rabbi of Kochav Hashahar settlement, Ohad Krakover, described the attack as serious and emphasized that violence towards soldiers must not be overlooked.

Amidst the tensions, it is important to note that the demonstrators' actions do not reflect the sentiments of the entire settlement. Rabbi Krakover expressed his belief that the residents of Kochav Hashahar were not involved in the attack and asserted that those who engage in violence should have no place in the community.

The incident occurred amidst ongoing protests against the delivery of aid into Gaza. Near the settlement of Tapuach, where dozens of settlers were searching for aid trucks, it was reported that Palestinian vehicles were targeted with rocks. Four settlers were detained, with three being released overnight, including a minor.

A separate incident earlier in the week saw Israeli right-wing activists assault a Palestinian truck driver in the West Bank, mistakenly believing that the truck was carrying aid to Gaza. Footage from the scene revealed that the activists stopped two trucks near the Givat Asaf settlement, vandalized and set them on fire. The attacked trucks were not transporting aid and were intended for commercial purposes.

The Israeli police arrived after the attack and did not apprehend any suspects. The injured truck driver was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.

Efforts to disrupt the movement of aid trucks have prompted police and border police forces to respond with stun grenades and tear gas, particularly in areas such as Tapuach, Yitzhar junction, and Gitit.

These incidents highlight the ongoing tension surrounding the delivery of aid into Gaza and emphasize the need for a reconsideration of protest methods to prevent potentially disastrous consequences. The IDF soldiers' involvement and subsequent injuries further underscore the importance of maintaining peaceful dialogue and finding non-violent approaches to address grievances.
