Vice President Kamala Harris is set to embark on her first rally as a presidential candidate, with a trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday. This visit will mark her ninth time in the state during her vice presidential term and her fifth visit this year alone, according to a press release from her campaign.
Harris aims to make a compelling case to Wisconsin voters, presenting them with a crucial choice between former President Donald Trump, whom she described as a "convicted felon who would drag this country backwards," and her own "brighter vision for the future, where our freedoms are protected and every American has a fair shot."
Following President Joe Biden's endorsement of Harris and withdrawal from the race, Democratic lawmakers and political figures across the nation have quickly rallied behind her. In fact, on her first full day as a presidential candidate, the majority of pledged Democratic convention delegates have already endorsed Harris.
Although she did not discuss her campaign at a White House event on Monday, Vice President Harris praised Biden's leadership. Meanwhile, the newly minted Harris campaign has reported an impressive $100 million raised in just two days, with 62% of the donors being first-time contributors.
In addition to the rally, Harris will be joined by prominent Wisconsin Democratic officials, including Governor Tony Evers, Senator Tammy Baldwin, and Attorney General Josh Kaul. This show of support underscores the importance of Wisconsin as a battleground state in the November election.
The Harris campaign has made significant efforts on the ground, boasting 48 coordinated offices across 43 counties throughout Wisconsin. With approximately 160 full-time staffers organizing to build support for Harris and state Democrats, their aim is to gain the support needed to secure a victory in November.
As Vice President Kamala Harris takes to the campaign trail, her Wisconsin rally serves as a crucial milestone in her bid for the presidency. With strong endorsements, impressive fundraising, and dedicated grassroots efforts, Harris is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming election.
