Verbal Altercation Turns Deadly in Downtown Greenville Shooting Incident

Greenville, S.C. - A man was fatally shot following a verbal altercation in downtown Greenville, according to the Greenville Police. The incident took place on May 26 in the early hours near Falls Park Drive and South Main Street.
Authorities received a distress call at approximately 1:00 am and responded promptly to find one individual with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, identified as 27-year-old William Shamari Slade, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Police were quickly provided with a description of the suspect's vehicle, leading to its identification by other officers en route to the scene. A short pursuit ensued, ending on E. Washington Street and Laurens Road, where the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Brian Murray, was apprehended.
Murray now faces multiple charges, including murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and failure to stop for blue lights. In addition to the fatal shooting, officers discovered another incident on South Main Street involving the suspect. According to arrest warrants, Murray fired a shot that penetrated a window at River Place apartments. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.
Further investigations have led to the arrest of another individual, Jhiytavious Brown, who has been charged with breach of peace aggravated in nature.
