**US Strikes Kill Up to 35 ISIS Operatives in Syria**
In a significant military action, the US carried out strikes against known ISIS camps in Syria on Monday evening, targeting various high-ranking ISIS leaders. These operations resulted in the death of up to 35 ISIS operatives, according to a US military announcement on Wednesday.
The strikes, executed by US Central Command forces, focused on several ISIS camps located in the Syrian desert. The extent to which the targeted senior leaders were included in the casualty count remains uncertain. Importantly, there have been "no indications" of civilian casualties, as reported by CENTCOM.
This recent strike forms part of an escalating series of operations against ISIS in the Middle East, a trend observed over the past month. When questioned about a potential resurgence of ISIS, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh clarified that while ISIS’s influence has spread to other global regions, this does not suggest a resurgence; rather, it indicates that ISIS continues to present a threat.
Recent operations against ISIS also include a collaborative US-Iraqi mission less than a week ago in Iraq’s Anbar province. This, along with another raid in central Iraq days earlier, resulted in the deaths of at least seven ISIS operatives. These operations also saw two US service members injured, who have since been moved to Walter Reed Medical Center for further care, while a third servicemember is undergoing evaluation for traumatic brain injury.
Earlier in the month, Iraqi Security Forces successfully neutralized four ISIS members, among them a senior leader. Additionally, a joint US-Iraqi raid in August led to the elimination of 14 militants, including four ISIS leaders. These heightened activities follow Iraq’s decision to delay announcing the termination of the US-led military coalition’s presence in the region, due to recent developments. Presently, around 2,500 US troops are stationed in Iraq to support and advise Iraqi forces in their operations against ISIS.
