### Georgia Wide Receiver Colbie Young Arrested on Assault Charges

ATHENS - University of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was taken into custody early Tuesday morning on misdemeanor charges involving battery and assaulting an unborn child, as reported by the Athens Clarke-County jail log.

The incident began when a 20-year-old woman visited Young's apartment around 1 a.m. to discuss their relationship. According to the police report obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, tensions rose when the woman discovered that Young had been communicating with another woman. The altercation escalated, with allegations that Young physically dragged her out of his room by grabbing her bicep and tricep.

After the initial confrontation, Young reportedly locked himself in his room. The woman, while gathering her belongings, called a friend. The situation intensified when Young allegedly reemerged and began squeezing her torso and abdomen, causing her to fear for her safety. The police report highlighted the woman's concerns about previous mental abuse now culminating in physical violence.

The arresting officer documented visible injuries on the woman, including a bruise and discoloration on the right side of her chest and redness on her right flank. However, no injuries were noted on the arm she claimed Young had grabbed. The woman was subsequently taken to a hospital for further examination.

Young, who transferred from Miami to Georgia this offseason, denied the allegations during his interview with the police. He asserted that their relationship had ended and claimed the injuries did not result from his actions.

The wide receiver was booked at 4:18 a.m. and remained in jail as of 8:30 a.m. with a bond set at $2,500. Georgia football officials have yet to comment on Young's status, but head coach Kirby Smart is expected to address the media Tuesday evening.

This arrest marks the seventh involving a Georgia player since March. Four of these were driving-related, involving Trevor Etienne, Smael Mondon, Sacovie White, and Bo Hughley. Additionally, former player Rara Thomas was dismissed from the team in July following multiple family violence charges.

Georgia's football team, currently holding a 4-1 record and fresh off a 31-13 victory over Auburn, is scheduled to play Mississippi State this Saturday at 4:15 p.m. Young has made significant contributions to the team this season, including leading in receiving yards during the recent game against Auburn.
