During a joint news conference, President Joe Biden issued a warning, asserting that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not stop at Ukraine. He emphasized that the United States stands strong with Ukraine and will not turn away from the crisis. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his appreciation for President Biden's dedication to Europe, stressing that all of Europe would be threatened if decisive action is not taken.

The meeting between the leaders of the United States, France, and Ukraine took place on Friday, where they pledged their unwavering support for Ukraine. In a statement released by the White House, it was confirmed that both countries recognize that broader security across the Atlantic is at stake due to Russia's aggression.

As co-chairs of the artillery coalition at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, France and the United States have emphasized their intention to provide necessary support to Ukraine in both the short and long term. They also confirmed their commitment to continuing political, security, humanitarian, and economic assistance to Ukraine.

Former US Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker highlighted the shared goal of ensuring Ukraine's survival as a sovereign, independent European democracy while preventing Russia's efforts to deny the existence of the Ukrainian people. However, Volker noted that the US and France differ in their approaches, with the US exercising caution and concern about escalating tensions, while France is exploring more proactive measures such as helping train Ukrainian air defenses.

President Macron mentioned discussions with NATO leaders regarding the possibilities of deploying trainers on the ground in Ukraine to assist with regulating their air defenses. Some NATO members expressed willingness to participate in this effort, with finalization expected in the upcoming days. It is important to note that the US remains opposed to having any personnel on the ground in Ukraine.

Despite this, Ukraine received a boost when France and Germany granted permission for the use of weapons they had provided against targets on Russian soil. The US subsequently followed suit, permitting the use of its provided weapons in Russian territory near Kharkiv.
