### Ukrainian Spies Launch Underwater Assault on Kerch Bridge, Causing Severe Damage
In a bold move, Ukrainian intelligence operatives executed an underwater attack on the Kerch Bridge, which links Russia’s mainland with Crimea. According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the assault severely damaged the underwater supports of the bridge, using 1,100 kg of explosives in TNT equivalent. Following the attack, Russian authorities confirmed the bridge was closed to all transport activities.
This latest assault marks Ukraine's third attempt to target the strategic Kerch Bridge, following previous attacks in October 2022 and July 2023. The bridge, which was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, has been a significant logistical route for Russian military supplies. The SBU’s recent statement underscores Ukraine’s commitment to reclaiming Crimea, which Russia has occupied since 2014.
Two days prior to this attack, Ukrainian spies successfully executed the Spiderweb drone operation, which damaged several strategic bombers deep inside Russian territory. SBU General Vasyl Malyuk highlighted that the ongoing strikes are part of Ukraine's broader strategy to target illegal Russian infrastructure on Ukrainian soil.
Local witnesses around the Kerch Bridge area reported hearing two additional blasts around 3 p.m. as a consequence of the attack. This sustained assault on the bridge serves as a critical reminder of the ongoing conflict and Ukraine's resolve to liberate occupied territories.
