In a recent address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Ukraine's presence in the Kursk region is "getting stronger," as the troops successfully destroyed a second bridge in Russian territory on Sunday. The ongoing offensive in Kursk has seen Ukraine steadily gaining ground since launching a surprise cross-border incursion last week. However, Ukraine still faces significant challenges in its occupied east.

The Kursk offensive serves multiple purposes for Ukraine, including boosting morale after a difficult period and stretching Russia's resources. A presidential aide stated that the incursion aims to ensure a "fair" negotiation process. Ukrainian forces continue to make gains in the Kursk region, with the Ukrainian monitoring group DeepState confirming advances and sharing geolocated images and videos of military operations.

As part of their efforts to cripple Moscow's logistical capabilities, Ukrainian forces carried out precision air strikes to destroy two bridges over the Seym river in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian Air Force Commander, Mykolaiv Oleshchuk, stated that these strikes have significantly impacted the course of combat operations, depriving the enemy of key resources. Russia's foreign ministry reported that Ukraine likely utilized Western rockets, possibly of US origin, for one of the bridge attacks.

Meanwhile, Russian forces are continuing their advances in eastern Ukraine, putting pressure on Kyiv. The Russian army has moved closer to the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, a critical military hub for Ukraine. The town of Pokrovsk serves as a key access point to the town of Kostiantynivka, used by Ukraine for resupplying front lines and evacuating casualties. The head of Pokrovsk's military administration, Serhii Dobriak, stated that preparations are underway to fortify the town against the approaching Russian forces. Civilians in Pokrovsk have been urged to evacuate due to the escalation of violence.

The intense fighting has also spread to other areas, such as the villages of Pivnichne and Zalizne in the Donetsk region. Russian forces launched a "massive assault" in an attempt to break through Ukrainian military positions and advance towards strategic towns in the region. Ukraine's General Staff reported the use of various types of missiles, guided aerial bombs, and strike UAVs throughout the week.

President Zelensky condemned Russia's aggressive actions, highlighting the need to hold the occupiers accountable for their actions. He emphasized that Ukraine's warriors are ready to defend their land against such terror. The situation remains complex, with both sides engaged in intense combat operations.

As the conflict continues to unfold, Ukraine's presence in Kursk remains a significant development, strengthening their foothold in the region. The ongoing offensive poses challenges for Russia, requiring them to divert resources to secure their territory. The international community closely watches the developments, with concerns over escalating tensions and the impact on civilian populations.
