Two Texas A&M fans were removed from a College World Series game on Saturday night after allegedly taunting Florida's baseball coach, police reported. The incident occurred during the rain-delayed Aggies-Gators game at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.

The incident unfolded during the first inning when there was a close play at third base that went against Florida. ESPN cameras, focused on the Gators dugout to capture any potential challenges to the umpire's call, instead caught two individuals, adorned in Texas A&M gear, leaning into the dugout and shouting at Gators coach Kevin O'Sullivan. Stadium security promptly intervened and removed the unruly fans.

Omaha police Lt. Neal Bonacci stated that the individuals involved have been banned and barred from the stadium, preventing their attendance at any more games. The determination regarding their future attendance at the College World Series will be decided by ballpark management, local law enforcement, and the NCAA. Kristyna Engdahl, spokesperson for Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority, which operates the stadium, mentioned that ongoing discussions suggest a likely one-year ban for the fans.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with the union representing Omaha police officers urging tournament organizers to ensure that the Texas A&M fans are permanently prevented from attending any future College World Series games. The union called their behavior "beyond unacceptable" and applauded the officers and security personnel for swiftly removing them from Charles Schwab Field.

The connection between Coach O'Sullivan and the tragedy that occurred three years ago was highlighted as a potential motivation for the fans' taunting. O'Sullivan was a family friend of the Reinharts, and one of the victims had served as a Gators batboy. Following the incident, opinion writer Eric Sorenson confirmed that the Texas A&M fans had accused the coach of killing someone and demanded that he feel ashamed.

Stadium management spokesperson Kristyna Engdahl described the incident as unfortunate, characterized by disruptive behavior and abusive language. According to Engdahl, such behavior constitutes grounds for removal from the ballpark.

In response to the incident, Aggies coach Jim Schlossnagle offered an apology on behalf of Texas A&M, making it clear that the two fans do not represent the values of the university. He urged them not to return to any future games, expressing his disappointment at the behavior exhibited.

The Aggies eventually emerged victorious in the hard-fought game, defeating the Gators 3-2. The focus has now shifted to ensuring the safety and respect within the College World Series, as discussions continue regarding the appropriate consequences for the two Texas A&M fans involved in the unsavory incident.
