Two NYPD Sergeants Injured in Manhattan Shooting During Robbery

In a shocking incident in Manhattan, two NYPD sergeants were shot while responding to a gunpoint robbery on Canal Street. The officers, who had chased the suspect to the area near Delancey Street, were shot as they attempted to apprehend the individual.
The shooting occurred at approximately 4 p.m. near the intersection of Delancey Street and Eldridge Street on the Lower East Side. According to police sources, while taking the suspect into custody, he fired a single shot that struck both sergeants. One officer was hit in the upper thigh, while the other was grazed in the leg.
Both injured sergeants were immediately rushed to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Although their conditions were not immediately clear, authorities stated that both officers were expected to survive.
The armed suspect was swiftly apprehended by police and the firearm used in the incident was recovered. The motives behind the robbery and subsequent shooting remain under investigation.
