According to Merseyside Police, a tragic incident unfolded at a Taylor Swift-themed children's dance workshop on Hart Street in Southport, leaving two children dead and nine others injured, with six in critical condition. The attack also targeted two adults who are currently in critical condition after being stabbed while trying to protect the children. A 17-year-old boy from Banks in Lancashire has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The motivation behind the attack remains unclear, with authorities confirming that it is not being treated as terror-related. The emergency services declared a major incident following multiple emergency calls at 11.47 BST. The community came together in shock and grief, with witnesses describing the scene as "horrendous" and "like something from a horror movie."

Chief Constable Serena Kennedy of Merseyside Police expressed her shock at the devastating incident, with officers discovering the aftermath of a "ferocious attack" on multiple individuals, many of whom were children attending the dance class.
