**Trump Makes Gains in Pennsylvania, Polls Indicate Potential Senate Flip**
New polling data from Pennsylvania suggests that former President Donald Trump may be poised to overturn his previous loss in the Keystone State, potentially influencing the Senate race as well. According to Robert Cahaly, pollster for the Trafalgar Group, Trump's support appears stronger than current polling numbers suggest, hinting at a possible Republican victory in a traditionally Democratic Senate seat.
In a hypothetical match-up against Kamala Harris, Trump leads with 46% of the vote compared to Harris’s 43%. This lead signifies that Trump’s appeal in Pennsylvania goes beyond nostalgic acknowledgement, echoing his recent McDonald's stint in Feasterville-Trevose. As Cahaly notes, Trump is performing well among crossover voters, exhibiting more strength among registered Democrats than Harris does among registered Republicans.
Despite 5% of voters remaining undecided and another 5% supporting other candidates, Cahaly argues that the race is not as close as it appears. He highlights a lack of mainstream media coverage on recent polling data, attributing silence to the networks' hesitation to discuss this critical swing state.
Contrasting polls, however, paint a different picture with a Massachusetts-Lowell survey showing Harris with a slight 1-point lead. Overall, RealClearPolitics reports an average 0.8-point lead for Trump, underscoring the contentious nature of the race.
Additionally, while many favorable Trump polls in specific states have not indicated his influence extending to Senate candidates, the Trafalgar survey reveals what Cahaly dubs “Trump strength." This may disrupt the longstanding tenure of Democrat Bob Casey, as Republican Dave McCormick leads slightly with 47.2% to Casey’s 46.8%, leaving 6% of respondents undecided.
The crucial question remains whether these undecided voters will ultimately split their tickets, supporting Trump's return to the presidency while allowing a Harris ally to continue in the Senate. The decisions made by these pivotal voters will shape the political landscape of this essential blue-wall state leading up to November 5.
