**Racist Tropes and Attacks Mark Trump Rally, As Harris Campaigns in Philadelphia**

NEW YORK - Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden turned contentious as several opening speakers used racist and sexist attacks against Vice President Kamala Harris. Among them was former Fox host Tucker Carlson, who mocked Harris's racial background, and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who made derogatory remarks about Puerto Rico and immigrants. Despite this, Harris continued her campaign efforts in Philadelphia, engaging with diverse communities.

At the rally, Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., echoed the controversial "replacement theory," accusing the Democratic Party of replacing American voters with more pliable immigrant voters. These sentiments were rebuked by Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a Republican congresswoman with roots in Puerto Rico, who expressed disgust at the inflammatory remarks and emphasized they did not represent GOP values.

Melania Trump made a rare campaign appearance, introduced by billionaire Elon Musk. Her presence marks her first since the Republican National Convention in July, highlighting the rally's significance in Trump’s campaign.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris visited various locations across Philadelphia, including a Black church, a Puerto Rican restaurant, and a youth basketball facility. She spoke to children about the importance of learning from mistakes, and emphasized the electoral significance of Pennsylvania. Harris also outlined a plan for Medicare to cover long-term home care, aligning with her focus on caregivers of aging parents.

Trump, doubling down on his tax-cutting proposals, announced a new tax break for family caregivers at Madison Square Garden. This initiative is part of his broader plan to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime, Social Security, and make interest tax-deductible for loans on American-made vehicles.

The rally’s charged atmosphere underscores the deep divisions as the election approaches, with Trump and his allies leaning into provocative rhetoric while Harris continues to engage in community-focused campaigning.
