Newly elected President Donald Trump is poised to implement a series of sweeping changes as he prepares for his second term in office, with a strong focus on immigration, the economy, and various social policies. With Republicans expected to hold a majority in the Senate, Trump will likely have significant political leverage to push through his agenda starting January 20.

One of the top priorities for Trump is sealing the U.S.-Mexico border. He has announced plans to undertake what he describes as "the largest deportation program in American history," invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. The initiative aims to deport over 11 million undocumented immigrants, an effort that would cost billions and require tens of thousands of additional staff. Trump's team is also considering cutting federal police grants for local law enforcement agencies that don't participate in these deportations. Other immigration policies include ending "catch and release," reinstating the "Remain in Mexico" policy, and bringing back Title 42 restrictions. He also intends to ban sanctuary cities, increase the number of border agents by 10,000, and provide raises and bonuses for these agents.

In addition to immigration, Trump is set on reshaping federal benefits to ensure they are only available to American citizens. Within the first 24 hours of his term, he promises to shut down the Department of Homeland Security’s CBP One app, which aids immigrants in scheduling appointments and interviews. Trump also plans to seize the assets of criminal gangs and drug cartels in the U.S. to compensate victims of violent crimes and has called for the death penalty for migrants who kill U.S. citizens or law enforcement officers.

Trump's economic strategy includes measures aimed at ending inflation and delivering historic tax cuts for workers and small businesses. Among the proposed cuts are exemptions for overtime pay, Social Security benefits, and caregiving expenses for parents or loved ones. Trump also plans to work with Elon Musk to eliminate federal regulations that he believes increase prices and harm American jobs while maintaining the Affordable Care Act. He aims to lower the corporate tax rate to 15% and impose significant tariffs on imported goods and countries not using the U.S. dollar as their reserve currency.

On foreign policy, Trump has expressed a bold plan to end Russia’s war in Ukraine within a day by meeting with Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He also aims to stabilize the Middle East and prevent further global conflicts, including World War III. Domestically, Trump leans heavily toward conservative social policies, including promoting traditional education curricula, limiting transgender rights, and prohibiting critical race theory in schools.

As Trump prepares to take office, his detailed and ambitious agenda promises to bring about significant changes across numerous facets of American life. Whether these initiatives will face substantial opposition or pave the way for a notably different future remains to be seen.
