In a recent appearance on CNN This Morning, Trump advisor Jason Miller found himself evading questions as anchor Kasie Hunt pressed him about a controversial Truth Social post featuring a screenshot of a younger Kamala Harris standing next to Hillary Clinton. The post included a caption that read, "Funny how blowjobs impacted both their careers differently."
When asked by Hunt what he would say to the vice president about the comment that Trump had reposted, Miller replied, "I saw the social media post, but I have not discussed it with the president. I don't know if the president even saw the comment or simply the picture."
Miller quickly shifted the conversation to accuse Democrats of launching vicious attacks against Trump. He stated, "The attacks that have been levied by Kamala Harris' campaign and her allies against President Trump have been quite horrific, not just recently, but over the past year and a half, two years, ever since he came down the escalator, quite frankly."
Hunt then posed a question regarding whether the criticisms against Trump are as "horrific" as the image he had reposted. Miller replied, "Oh, a hundred times worse." He added, "Again, I haven't discussed that with the president. That's not something I have asked."
It is important to note that the screenshot featured a large comment alongside the image, making it unlikely that Trump would have simply reposted a picture of Harris and Clinton without any additional commentary. The post also aligns with the common accusation among Trump supporters that Harris slept her way to success earlier in her career. Moreover, this is not the first time Trump has reposted a sexual attack on Harris, as demonstrated by a previous repost of a parody song that made innuendos about her.
Hours later, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt struggled to provide a satisfactory response when CNN's John Berman questioned why Trump would repost such content. When pressed if she believed the posts were problematic, Leavitt skirted the question, stating, "I didn't say that, I said I don't think voters care."
As of early Thursday afternoon, the original Truth Social post by @Beware_of_penguin had been removed, resulting in its disappearance from Trump's feed. The incident highlights the ongoing controversy surrounding the use of social media and the contentious atmosphere surrounding political campaigns.
While Miller avoided directly addressing the controversial social media post, the incident once again draws attention to the power and impact of online platforms and the need for responsible use by political figures.
