In a recent interview at Chiefs minicamp, veteran tight end Travis Kelce expressed uncertainty about when he plans to hang up his cleats. When asked about retirement, the 34-year-old Kelce acknowledged that he couldn't put a timeframe on it.
Kelce's passion for the game remains unwavering, stating that he loves coming to work every day. Recognizing that there are opportunities outside of football, he emphasized the importance of balancing his present enjoyment with future endeavors.
"I'm gonna do it until the wheels fall off," said Kelce. "Hopefully, that doesn't happen anytime soon. I can definitely understand that it's toward the end of the road than the beginning of it. I just gotta make sure I'm set up for after football as well."
While Kelce's regular-season production dipped slightly last year, he showcased his true prowess in the postseason. In four Chiefs playoff games, he recorded an impressive 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns. His contributions were instrumental in securing the Chiefs' second consecutive Super Bowl victory and their third in four years.
Despite facing questions about his age and off-field commitments, including his relationship with pop sensation Taylor Swift, co-hosting a popular podcast with his brother Jason, and being a well-known brand ambassador, Kelce's focus remains firmly on the game.
Kelce's career has been decorated with numerous accomplishments, including being named an All-Pro in the 2022 season, where he notched 110 catches for 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns. Last year, he caught 93 passes for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games, solidifying his status as one of the league's premier tight ends.
As Chiefs minicamp gets underway, Kelce's commitment and passion for the game continue to be a driving force for the team. While retirement plans may still be uncertain, Chiefs fans can rest assured that their beloved tight end's dedication to the sport remains unwavering.
