In a devastating incident at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, two employees of Delta Air Lines lost their lives, while another was left seriously injured, when a tire blew out on a Delta jet during maintenance on Tuesday. The incident took place early in the morning within a hangar at the airport's technical operations maintenance facility, as the workers were carrying out a tire change.

Shortly after 5 am, emergency crews responded to a distress call about a tire explosion. The identities of the deceased workers have not been disclosed at this time. The injured Delta employee was rushed to a nearby hospital with significant injuries. As of Tuesday afternoon, the worker's condition remains unknown.

According to flight records, the three employees were working on a Boeing 757 jet that had arrived from Las Vegas the previous Sunday. Delta Air Lines released a statement expressing grief over the tragic loss and injury, emphasizing that they were cooperating with local authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

"The Delta family is heartbroken at the loss of two team members and the injury of another following an incident this morning," stated the company. "We have extended our full support to family members and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. The Delta family is grateful for the quick action of first responders and medical teams on site."

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens took to Twitter to express his condolences, writing, "I offer my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased Delta employees. My thoughts are also with those who were injured, and I hope for their swift and full recovery."

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), a union representing over 100,000 airline workers across the US, joined in solidarity by demanding a thorough investigation into the tragic incident. They offered their resources and support to all those affected.

In response, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that they were aware of the deaths of the Delta workers and were in contact with the airline. Fortunately, the incident did not disrupt flights in and out of the Hartsfield-Jackson airport, as confirmed by airport officials.

As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on determining the cause of the tire blowout and ensuring the safety of airline workers. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by those in the aviation industry, emphasizing the need for constant vigilance and adherence to strict safety protocols.
