### Actor Jonathan Joss Fatally Shot; Husband Cites Homophobic Motive

Jonathan Joss, known for his work on the animated series "King of the Hill," was tragically shot near his residence in south San Antonio on Sunday night. Joss, aged 59, lost his life in an incident that his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, alleges was fueled by homophobia.

Gonzales recounted the harrowing event in a statement released the day after the tragedy. He described how he and Joss had been checking their mail at a property damaged in a previous fire when a man began shouting homophobic slurs and then opened fire. Gonzales stated, "Jonathan and I were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me out of the way, saving my life."

The San Antonio police have arrested 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja in connection with the shooting and charged him with murder. However, they noted in a statement that their investigation has so far found no evidence to support that Joss's murder was related to his sexual orientation.

The couple had faced a history of harassment in their neighborhood, much of it openly homophobic. Gonzales revealed that their home had previously been set on fire after years of threats, resulting in the deaths of their three dogs. He lamented the lack of response from law enforcement despite multiple reports of these threats.

Jonathan Joss was best known for voicing John Redcorn on "King of the Hill," a series that aired from 1997 to 2008 and is set for a reboot in August. He also had notable roles in "Parks and Recreation" and "Tulsa King." Just days before his death, Joss had been in Austin for a sneak peek event related to the revival of "King of the Hill" and had shared a video on Instagram expressing his enthusiasm for reconnecting with fans.

The news of his death has shaken his fan base and the entertainment community. Gonzales expressed gratitude to Joss's supporters, stating, "To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family." The couple had recently tied the knot on Valentine's Day, making the loss even more poignant.
