Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 14-Year-Old Girl, Injures Five Others in Buffalo

In a devastating incident on Saturday night, a 14-year-old girl lost her life while being among six teenagers who were shot on Jefferson Avenue, as reported by Buffalo police. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Jefferson, near Alexander Place, shortly before 11:30 p.m.

The victims, all aged between 14 and 16, were shot while gathered in a parking lot. The 14-year-old girl was rushed to Oishei Children's Hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead. Four males, including a 15-year-old boy in critical condition, were transported to ECMC by ambulance. The remaining three victims are listed as stable. Another 16-year-old boy sustained a graze wound from gunfire but declined medical assistance at the scene.

Buffalo police revealed that the area had been crowded with "several hundred" teenagers attending an event. The disturbances began with a noise complaint at approximately 10:20 p.m., followed by a fight report around 10:30 p.m., which prompted authorities to disperse the crowd within 30 minutes. At 11:10 p.m., the first report of shots fired was made, followed closely by calls reporting a person shot.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting was a direct result of the earlier altercation. Police are actively working on gathering more information to determine the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident.

Authorities have issued a plea for anyone with knowledge or details about the shooting to come forward by calling or texting the confidential TIPCALL line at 716-847-2255. No additional information regarding possible suspects or motives has been disclosed at this time.
