Mass Shooting in Minneapolis Leaves Two Dead and Multiple Injured

MINNEAPOLIS - A tragic mass shooting unfolded in Minneapolis on Thursday evening, resulting in the death of two individuals and leaving several others injured. The civilian victim has been identified as Osman Said Jimale, a 32-year-old male, who was fatally shot inside an apartment complex on the 2200 block of Blaisdell Avenue South. Another person was also injured within the same apartment.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. when officers received a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, the situation quickly escalated when a Minneapolis police officer named Jamal Mitchell, who was rendering aid to someone, was shot by that individual. Sadly, Mitchell succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Jimale's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, stating the grim reality of this senseless violence. Police were forced to open fire on the suspect, who was also killed at the scene. The investigation is ongoing as officers search the apartment complex for further evidence and potential witnesses.

In addition to the apartment complex, another victim was discovered outside the building. Reports indicate that a man was found shot inside his vehicle. Furthermore, a Minneapolis firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to the hospital, but was later released.

Before the shooting occurred, witnesses informed authorities that the suspected gunman had been involved in an altercation where he struck a person on a scooter. A driver, witnessing the incident, attempted to flee from the danger and struck the suspect. Tragically, the driver then heard gunshots and promptly called the police upon reaching safety.
