Nearly five months after the devastating ATV accident that claimed the life of Sean Garinger, star of the reality TV show "16 and Pregnant," the official cause of his death has been revealed. According to the Raleigh, NC Medical Examiner's office, Garinger's demise was a result of blunt force injury to the head. The documents further revealed that his skull was fractured in multiple places.
Garinger, who appeared on the sixth season of MTV's "16 and Pregnant" with his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gutierrez, had welcomed two children - Dareli, three, and Esmi, one - during their time on the show. Tragically, on February 28, Garinger's life was cut short when the ATV he was driving flipped over in the driveway of his North Carolina home, causing severe head injuries.
In the aftermath of his death, Garinger's mother, Mary Hobbs, mourned the loss of her son, describing him as her "rock" and her "strength." She revealed that Garinger had been 200 days sober and had been "so happy" to spend time with his daughters just one week before the accident.
Hobbs shared the heartbreaking details of the accident, explaining that Garinger had been moving the ATV from one parking spot to another for her when the ground gave way due to heavy rain and mud. The ATV flipped over, resulting in severe head injuries for Garinger. Despite her desperate attempts to seek help from neighbors, Garinger tragically passed away before the ambulance arrived.
Garinger had plans to purchase a vehicle to visit his daughters, who reside in Fountain, Colorado, with their mother and grandmother. His mother recounted that they had visited a car dealership prior to the accident but never made it back. She described her son as an adventurous spirit who enjoyed activities like driving RC cars, skydiving, shark diving, dirt biking, and surfing.
The Watauga County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Garinger was the victim of the fatal accident. They expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones and acknowledged the loss experienced by them. Garinger, affectionately known as "Squishy," was remembered as a military brat who touched the lives of many with his kind and generous nature.
Garinger's death comes amid reports of his separation from Gutierrez for over a year and their involvement with other people. Despite their relationship dynamics, Garinger had recently visited Gutierrez's family in Colorado to see his daughters.
The tragic loss of Sean Garinger has left a void in the lives of his family, friends, and fans. His spirit for adventure and love for his children will forever be remembered.
