Tragic Crash at Gillette Stadium Concert Claims Life of 10-Year-Old Boy

In a devastating incident that took place during a Kenny Chesney concert at Gillette Stadium on Saturday night, a stolen Jeep crashed into a family of six stopped at a red light, resulting in the tragic death of a 10-year-old boy. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Route 1 and Interstate 495 in Plainville, Massachusetts.
42-year-old Michael Escolas of Oxford was behind the wheel of a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, allegedly speeding when he collided with the family's Nissan Altima. At the time of the crash, a man and a woman were inside the Nissan with their four children. The impact of the collision also damaged three other vehicles.
State police troopers, who were present at the concert, quickly responded to the scene, along with local Plainville police and seven ambulances from nearby areas. All six family members, as well as Escolas, were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Tragically, the 10-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead.
While the extent of injuries sustained by the boy's parents and siblings remains undisclosed, investigations have revealed that the stolen Jeep belonged to a couple from Vermont who was attending the concert at Gillette Stadium. The vehicle theft took place during the event, only adding to the already heartbreaking turn of events.
Kenny Chesney is scheduled to perform again on Sunday night, marking the conclusion of the three-day concert series at Gillette Stadium. Following the tragic crash, a spokesperson for the stadium expressed their deep sadness and extended condolences to the grieving family. They also mentioned working closely with the Massachusetts State Police, who will be investigating the incident in collaboration with the Norfolk District Attorney's Office.
