Tragic Accident in Sullivan Township Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Boy

In a devastating incident on Friday, May 24, a 12-year-old child riding a bicycle was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver in Sullivan Township, Ohio. The tragic accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on County Road 681, near the intersection of Township Road 350, as reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver, identified as 55-year-old James Dwayne Taylor from Ashland, was heading south on County Road 681 in his Chevrolet Silverado truck when he collided with the child who was also traveling in the same direction on his bicycle. The young boy, Tye David Miezejewski, a resident of Sullivan, suffered severe injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital by air ambulance.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tye David Miezejewski succumbed to his injuries and tragically passed away. The news of this heartbreaking loss has left the community in shock and mourning.

According to an update from the state patrol on Monday, Taylor, the driver, escaped the accident without any injuries. However, he was placed under arrest at the scene on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Charges are now pending against Taylor in Ashland County, adding a legal dimension to this heartbreaking incident.

The loss of a young life in such a tragic manner has once again raised concerns about the devastating consequences of drunk driving.
