Tracy Cortez Looks to Bounce Back Stronger After UFC Defeat

In a display of resilience and determination, Tracy Cortez is ready to rise above her recent loss in the UFC octagon. The women's flyweight fighter suffered her first defeat to Rose Namajunas in a unanimous decision during Saturday's UFC on ESPN 59 in Denver.

Despite the setback, Cortez (11-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) remains undeterred and is eager to get back into the ring as soon as possible. Speaking to ESPN, she expressed her determination, stating, "I want to get right back in there. Last time I (lost), I went on a killer streak and improved myself again. I'm not here to prove the world, I'm here to prove myself."

Cortez's fight against Namajunas was not originally scheduled. She stepped in as a replacement for an injured Maycee Barber, accepting the challenge with only two weeks' notice. Even under these challenging circumstances, Cortez gave her all and drew valuable lessons from the experience.

Reflecting on the bout, Cortez said, "I took it on two weeks' notice, unprepared, and gave it all I had. I know if I were to have a full camp, prepared - I mean, my cardio was there - I think I would've done a lot better with a good game plan. I think I proved myself I can go five fives, you know. (I'm) looking forward to the next one."

Cortez's determination to come back stronger is evident, and she is eager to showcase her skills in a future fight. While she wishes for the opportunity to face Namajunas under better circumstances, Cortez remains confident in her ability to excel with proper preparation.

As she looks ahead to her next fight, Tracy Cortez aims to continue her winning streak and prove her capabilities once again. The UFC women's flyweight is determined to make her mark and show the world what she is truly capable of.
