In a tragic turn of events, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has confirmed that the body of three-year-old Amari Galan, who had been reported missing, has been found in a canal behind his home in Rocky Ford.

Amari Galan was last seen on Saturday, May 18, at 4 a.m. in the 900 block of Washington Street. Being a child with special needs, Galan had left his home on foot, wearing only a diaper. Multiple agencies and search and rescue personnel were involved in the search effort, eventually focusing on the Catlin canal that ran behind the Galan family residence.

It was at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, that search and rescue personnel discovered a body several miles downstream in the canal. The Otero County Coroner was then called to the scene to confirm the identity of the body, which was later revealed to be that of young Amari Galan.

The CBI expressed their condolences to the Galan family, stating, "Law enforcement wishes to share its condolences with the family of Amari Galan."

This devastating incident has left the Rocky Ford community in mourning and has highlighted the importance of water safety and vigilance, especially when it comes to children. Authorities are likely to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding Amari Galan's disappearance and subsequent tragic death.

Further details about this heartbreaking incident, including the cause of death, have not been revealed at this time. The community joins in sending thoughts and prayers to the Galan family during this difficult time of loss and grief.
