**Texas Offers Land for Trump’s Deportation Facilities**

The state of Texas has proposed an extensive land offer to Donald Trump for the creation of deportation facilities. Dawn Buckingham, the Texas land commissioner, wrote to Trump expressing the state's readiness to collaborate with federal agencies like the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the US Border Patrol. The goal is to establish a facility dedicated to processing, detaining, and coordinating what could be the nation's largest deportation of violent criminals.

In October, the Texas General Land Office (GLO), led by Buckingham, acquired 355,000 acres of land—half the size of Rhode Island. Out of this vast area, 1,402 acres have been specifically offered to the federal government. Details about the purchase remain undisclosed, though Buckingham revealed that the land was obtained from a woman who had previously denied state officials permission to build a border wall on her property. Now, the state plans to construct a 1.5-mile stretch of the border wall on this land.

The rest of the land, known as Brewster Ranch, consists of 353,598 acres near Big Bend National Park. This expanse was purchased for approximately $245 million from Brad Kelley, a billionaire and the state’s largest private landowner. This acquisition marks one of the most significant public land purchases in Texas history.

This move aligns with Trump’s campaign pledges of intensified immigration enforcement. Recently, Trump confirmed intentions to declare a national emergency and mobilize the US military for the mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. He has appointed former ICE director Tom Homan as his border czar, who promised the largest deportation force the country has ever seen. When asked about family separations during the previous administration, Homan suggested that families could be deported together to avoid such situations.

Buckingham emphasized his commitment to employing all possible resources to secure the border fully.
