Texans Dominate Giants in Preseason Victory at NRG Stadium

HOUSTON, Texas - After a lengthy 217-day absence, Houston Texans fans were finally treated to some NFL action at NRG Stadium. In a preseason showcase on Saturday, the Texans' defense shone brightly, forcing a remarkable 5 turnovers in their 28-10 win over the New York Giants.

The Texans wasted no time making their presence felt. In the first quarter, safety Jalen Pitre intercepted Giants quarterback Daniel Jones on the Giants' 6-yard line, returning the ball for a touchdown and giving Houston an early 7-0 lead. Cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. joined the party later in the quarter with another interception, solidifying the Texans' lead heading into the second quarter.

The Giants fought back in the second quarter when former Texans player, running back Devin Singletary, scored a touchdown against his former team to tie the game at 7-7. However, Houston quickly responded as wide receiver John Metchie III, who had unfortunately missed his rookie season due to leukemia, caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Case Keenum, putting the Texans ahead 14-7. Giants placekicker Graham Gano added a 31-yard field goal, reducing the deficit to 14-10 as halftime approached.

The third quarter turned out to be a stalemate, with neither team managing to score. However, Houston came charging back in the fourth quarter. Running back British Brooks found the end zone twice, first with a 6-yard touchdown and later with a 15-yard touchdown, extending the Texans' lead to a commanding 28-10.

Texans fans were thrilled to witness the debut of star running back Joe Mixon, who had previously missed the team's first two preseason games due to a hamstring injury. His presence on the field added another dimension to Houston's offense.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed that the Texans' starters would get playing time against the Giants. This decision follows the team's victorious 20-12 preseason match against the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 9.

In addition to the game itself, fans were treated to a unique sight in the Texans' end zone. The team showcased their alternate "H" logo in red, adding an extra touch of flair to the preseason contest at NRG Stadium.

With a current preseason record of 1-1 and two games remaining, the Texans are eager to continue their momentum and entertain their fans. Texans supporters can watch their team face off against the Los Angeles Rams in the preseason finale on August 24 at noon, live on ABC13.

Texans fans can finally relish the return of football at NRG Stadium as they witness standout performances from quarterback C.J. Stroud and the rest of the squad. It's clear that the Texans are ready to make their mark in the upcoming NFL season.
