A dramatic standoff involving a stolen tractor trailer on Interstate 205 in Vancouver, Washington came to a conclusion when law enforcement took two suspects into custody, announced the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office on Monday morning.

The incident began in Portland, Oregon, where the tractor trailer was reported stolen. Police initiated a pursuit, attempting to immobilize the vehicle using spike strips. However, the suspect managed to evade capture and crossed the Columbia River into Washington.

During the pursuit, the suspect rammed several cars, causing chaos on the road. "It's a very large vehicle. When the driver wanted out of our box-in that we had, the truck was plenty big enough to push our vehicles out of the way," said Deputy John Plock, describing the suspect's aggressive efforts to escape.

Eventually, the suspect was pulled over and barricaded themselves off I-205. Reports indicate that the suspect exhibited aggressive behavior, prompting authorities to exercise caution in resolving the situation. At approximately 11:45 a.m., both the driver and a passenger in the semi-truck were apprehended.

Although specific details of their arrest and charges have not been disclosed, it is expected that the suspects will face numerous legal consequences for their actions.

During the pursuit, one deputy sustained an injury, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement in apprehending dangerous suspects. Efforts to clear the vehicle from the road are estimated to take at least an hour or two.

The incident prompted the closure of all lanes of traffic near mile post 30 and Exit 30 on State Route 500, as well as the Mill Plain ramps close to the Mill Plain Overpass. Thankfully, the Washington Department of Transportation has since confirmed that the lanes have been reopened, allowing traffic to flow smoothly once again.

Public interest remains high as more information is awaited regarding the suspects' identities, charges, and the circumstances leading up to the theft of the tractor trailer. Law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure public safety and bring the investigation to a successful conclusion.
