Stolen 18-Wheeler Crashes into Texas DPS Office, Leaving One Dead and Several Injured

In a shocking incident, a stolen 18-wheeler truck deliberately crashed into the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office in Brenham, resulting in one fatality and causing serious injuries to multiple individuals. The suspect behind the wheel, identified as Clenard Parker, 42, of Chappel Hill, intentionally targeted the DPS building after being denied a Commercial Drivers License.

According to DPS officials, the tragic incident occurred on Friday at approximately 10:40 a.m. A total of 14 people were present inside the DPS office at the time of the crash, with everyone sustaining injuries. Tragically, one person succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. The identities of the victims have not been released.

Parker, the suspect responsible for the deliberate act, was found driving a stolen 18-wheeler, as reported by DPS. Law enforcement, including a Washington County sheriff's deputy, had spotted the stolen vehicle, prompting Parker to attempt an escape. He subsequently crashed the truck into the DPS building, causing extensive damage.

Following the incident, Parker was apprehended by authorities and is currently held in Washington County Jail. He will face charges that include unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest or detention resulting in serious bodily injury. The Texas Rangers have initiated an investigation into the matter while emphasizing there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

During a press conference, DPS officials, along with Senator Lois Kolkhorst and Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura, provided updates on the situation. They expressed their condolences to the victims' families and highlighted their commitment to prosecute the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law.

Out of the injured parties, three are reported to be in critical condition. Two individuals have been airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan, while another has been taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Three others were treated at Baylor Scott & White in Brenham and have since been released. Additionally, eight individuals were treated and released at the scene, according to DPS.

Victim support services have been deployed to the family reunification center at the Brenham Police Department, offering assistance to those affected by the tragedy.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Senator Kolkhorst urged prayers for the victims and their families, while Mayor Kenjura lamented the senseless tragedy that struck their hometown. Both leaders emphasized their determination to pursue justice and ensure that such acts will not be tolerated.

As the investigation continues, authorities are determined to uncover the motive behind Parker's actions and bring closure to the affected community.
