In a recent message to his supporters, conservative media personality Steve Bannon has advised them not to write him letters while he serves his four-month federal prison sentence. Instead, he has urged them to use their time praying for their enemies and working towards "victory." Bannon was convicted in 2022 on two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Speaking on his War Room podcast, Bannon emphasized that he did not want his supporters to waste their time writing letters to him, as they would not be read. He encouraged them to focus on their own efforts towards victory, stating, "This is all about victory. There is no substitute for victory here. You know that. I know that."
Bannon further emphasized the importance of utilizing their time and resources wisely. He highlighted that he would be working diligently even while serving his sentence, dedicating his hours to the pursuit of "total and complete victory."
The former White House strategist declared himself a "political prisoner" in an interview with Time magazine, stating that he is at war with the ruling class of the country and has dedicated his life to this cause. While Bannon acknowledged that he did not fear his time in prison, he acknowledged that it was an integral part of his ongoing battle.
Bannon's sentencing has followed multiple appeals to have his sentence overturned, which were ultimately unsuccessful. He has been ordered by a judge to report to prison on July 1.
Although Bannon expressed his intentions to spend his time in the prison library, he made it clear that his focus would not be on physical fitness. He predicted that he would not "come out and be prison ripped," emphasizing his commitment to his political endeavors.
As Bannon prepares to serve his prison sentence, his call for supporters to prioritize prayers and work towards victory reflects his unwavering dedication to his cause. It remains to be seen how his supporters will respond to this rallying cry in his absence.
