In a surprising turn of events, the office of legendary basketball coach Rick Pitino at St. John's University was broken into by a pair of thieves who made away with a collection of valuable memorabilia. According to authorities and sources close to the investigation, two unidentified men managed to enter Carnesecca Arena on Tuesday evening and ransacked Pitino's office, stealing items worth a total of $375.

The audacious burglars reportedly stole a basketball and a bullhorn, among other items, before making their getaway. Surveillance footage obtained by The Post captured the duo walking through the arena's hallways, with one of them seen holding a small bullhorn, believed to be one of the stolen items.

Additional stolen items from Pitino's office included a sword, a mask, and several bottles of alcohol. It remains unclear whether the theft was limited to his office alone, as the full extent of the incident is still under investigation.

St. John's University has been fully cooperative with law enforcement officials, providing them with the surveillance footage and offering their assistance in the ongoing investigation. The university's athletics department released a statement confirming their collaboration and determination to ensure justice is served.

Pitino himself reported the burglary to the NYPD, but chose not to comment further on the incident when approached by The Post. However, in a lighthearted tweet, he expressed his dismay at the stolen memorabilia, jokingly mentioning a bottle of fine wine worth $1,500. He later clarified his tweet, ensuring that the wine was merely a joke and that he would never keep it on his desk.

The stolen memorabilia holds sentimental value for Coach Pitino, who achieved great success throughout his career, including leading teams to the final four. While the burglary may have caused a temporary setback, Pitino remains focused on building a successful future for the St. John's University basketball program.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in identifying the perpetrators responsible for this bold act. The St. John's community, along with basketball fans, anxiously await the recovery of the stolen items and justice to be served in this case.
