### "SNL Skit Spoofs Vice President Harris' Tense Fox News Interview"
"Saturday Night Live" took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris' recent interview on Fox News with Bret Baier, highlighting her adept handling of the tough questions thrown her way. The sketch featured some of SNL's notable talents, including Alec Baldwin, who returned to the SNL stage for the first time since his acquittal in a manslaughter case, and Maya Rudolph, who delivered a spot-on impression of Harris.
In the satire, Baldwin shed his usual Trump impersonation to take on the role of Baier, exaggerating his aggressive questioning style. The mock interview opened with Rudolph, channeling Harris’ voice and demeanor, slyly remarking, "Thank you Bret, the pleasure is neither of ours."
Baldwin's Baier parodied the real interviewer’s intense lines of questioning, asking, "When I interviewed President Trump, my first question was what do you think is the most important issue facing our nation. So my first question to you is give me the exact number of murderers you let loose in this country." This exaggerated approach paralleled the real-life interview where Baier’s first question to Harris was about the number of illegal immigrants her administration had released over the past three and a half years.
During Baier's actual interview with Harris, he was noted for attempting to cut off the Vice President to steer clear of rehearsed talking points, a tactic mimicked in SNL’s skit. Baldwin continued the comedic interrogation by mocking questions about why many voters still supported Trump, despite Harris' campaign warnings, asking, "Are you saying Trump voters are misguided? Are they stupid?" This was followed by more humorous jabs, "Are they idiots who can't think for themselves? Are they morons?"
One highlighted moment included Rudolph's Harris teasingly utilizing the camera for a faux TikTok, stating, "See how I don't let men interrupt my answers? Very demure. Very mindful." This alluded to Baier's real-life assertion that Harris might have been angling for a viral moment.
Baier's interview with Harris reached an impressive 8 million viewers, marking it as one of the highest-rated political interviews during the 2024 election cycle. Baldwin's return brought added attention, his first appearance on SNL since a judge dismissed his involuntary manslaughter charges from the 2021 "Rust" set incident that tragically resulted in cinematographer Halyna Hutchins' death.
